What Do You Do When…People Are Rude?

Last night my husband and I planned to attend what we thought was a church fundraiser. It had been advertised in the church bulletin for weeks, and I had carefully clipped out the information to display on our bulletin board. The advertisement promised a barbecue dinner, casino games, and prize drawings. We’d been looking for ways to meet other young couples in our parish, and this casino night seemed to be the perfect solution.  Hopefully we’d get to know some people, but, if not, we’d still have a good time and benefit the church.

Why I’m Remembering to Be Thankful This Thanksgiving

Maybe you’ve noticed that I stopped publishing new posts and responding to comments at the beginning of November. I greatly appreciate everyone who takes the time to read and comment, but the last few weeks have just been too difficult for me to respond. My husband and I took Christmas card photos this weekend, and I must have stared at the best one for thirty minutes last night, wondering how we managed to come through these weeks looking so unscathed.

Last week I discovered the SiriusXM Pop2K radio station, and, after overcoming the initial shock that songs from my teenage years are now old enough to have a dedicated radio station that is not current hits, I’ve started listening primarily to it while driving. Admittedly, part of the reason I’ve suddenly become enraptured with Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” again is that Pop2K is number seven on my radio pre-sets, and that extra touch to get back to the screen featuring pre-sets one through six just seems like too much trouble most of the time.
